Noah A. Hopkins is a leading tourism advocate who works tirelessly to attract visitors to Tuskegee and Macon County. Publisher of the Macon County Tourism Resource Guide,he uses this magazine to promote the county to the world. He also has created other materials to boost tourism including a countywide, visitor–friendly map that pinpoints historical entities and tourism related businesses. He published a booklet entitled It’s Time to Rediscover Tuskegee, which focused exclusively on the tourism experience in the City of Tuskegee.
Hopkins founded the Community Tourism Network, LLC to assist any small town, city or county identify tourism assets, create collateral materials, research and develop campaigns to draw more tourists to their communities.
He moved to Alabama in 2004 from Louisiana, where he was a business leader in the New Orleans tourism sector. Considered an innovator in the hospitality and public relations industries, for years he provided consultant services to struggling businesses to increase their profitability. He co–owned and operated a successful public relations agency with his wife, Karin Hopkins. They built the New Orleans based company into a powerhouse that represented a diverse clientele from large corporations to emerging businesses. They also led public relations for several major events including the Essence Music Festival and the State Farm Bayou Classic.
In addition, Hopkins owned an iconic entertainment venue named Nexus, patronized by local citizens, national and international tourists and celebrity VIPs.
Recognized for his creative flair, he once placed a live mermaid in a shrimp boat to enhance the ambience at an event featuring seafood. He has produced numerous other events that also became the talk of the town.
Today, he is blazing new trails as a tourism proponent, using the skills and expertise acquired from his previous life to help underserved communities cultivate tourism for economic development.
